Seriously, why don’t expensive hotels have free wifi? I’ve been to a Hilton, a Sheraton, and a Ritz Carlton. All didn’t have free wifi.
On the flip side, a Raddisson, a Days Inn, and a Best Western did.
What gives?
Marriott (MAR) didn’t always have free wifi. But at least they’re offering it now.
For the money I’m paying for a Hilton or Sheraton, I expect excellent service, clean rooms, and at least feature parity with lesser hotels. Currently, I do get excellent service and clean rooms – much cleaner than a Best Western. Plus more amenities too. But no free wifi? That’s just lame.
Totally agree, I’ve been shocked by this as well! I was just staying at the Renaissance Waterfront in Boston and they normally charge for WiFi (we got it for free due to the conference). I can’t imagine that it’s a cost situation; most people don’t travel to download music and other inappropriate things…we just want to check our email or look for local things to do!
Tell me about it! Most of these hotel patrons are probably business travelers and they’ll most likely want & need wifi for business purposes. Forcing them to pay or go down to the business lounge is just horrible. Shame shame, Renaissance, Hilton, Sheraton, et al!
I have never had a need to use an expensive hotel so fortunately I never encounterd this. It is unacceptable though. I for one am glad I am saving money and getting free wifi to boot!
Free wifi is the right of all sentient beings.
